5 Self-Care Tips for New Moms

Featured on PsychCentral.com

PsychCentral recently published "5 Self-Care Tips for New Moms", featuring an interview with Catherine O'Brien, LMFT. In it, she gives her best advice on simple, yet crucial ways that any new mom can add in some much-needed "me time" into her day.

Why prioritize self-care when you have a new little human that needs so much more than you do? Because, as O'Brien states in the article, "If you are tired and stressed out, honor yourself and take some time to ‘fill your cup.’ Your time with your baby will be better for it.”

Check out the article here:

And if you, or a mom you know, feel you need a little more help with finding ways to manage this huge transition, please contact Catherine to work with her one-on-one.

Smart thinking for tired and stressed out Mum's Catherine. I know I found it really difficult to think of me when I had a newborn to care for. That was one of my biggest struggles... where did I go, when this child arrived.

I think it is so difficult to go anywhere, especially early on when your baby comes home. I strongly encourage having a good support system, whether it is family or friends that can come over several times a week (if not more) and make sure you AND your partner are getting rest, by helping with chores etc. For those that do not have local support I would highly recommend looking into a postpartum doula.
